Project: Oil Refinery Dismantling and Removal
Location: Manchester
Duration: 2 weeks
Brief description:
We were drafted in to lead on a project in Manchester involving an illegal oil refinery which the Environment Agency had instructed to be dismantled.
Project Scope:
In partnership with two other specialist companies – a demolition company and industrial cleaning company, who we have worked closely with on many previous projects. We took on the role of principal contractor and managed the full project from start to finish. The scope of works consisted of the dismantling and removal of a redundant oil refinery, previously used to re-refine waste oil and process it ready for resale.
The plant consisted of several types of pressure vessels, boilers, storage tanks (both plastic and steel) along with pipework. Oil Recoveries handled all the waste removal from the site, including all remaining oils and fluids which were removed from the system.
In total 80,000 litres of sludges and oils were safely removed, 70% of which was able to be re-refined.
The seamless collaboration between our team and the other two partners ensured all works were completed on programme, allowing access to the site on time.
